It’s early in the morning as I write this but the sky is bird’s egg blue and the sun is shining. Of course, in the blink of an eye the rain could be cascading through the drainpipes but nevertheless it feels like a sort of summer has arrived. So, in its honour, I declare July’s Cheese, Please! Recipe Blog Challenge to be all about cheesy summer food.
Our tastes for cheese change in the warmer weather; we’re less partial to a spicy wedge of Stilton and more in the market for soft, fresh cheeses or nuggets of salty cheese. But it’s up to you what cheese you choose and also how you interpret ‘summery cheese’. Whether it’s shivering determinedly over a barbequed chunk of halloumi, batting wasps off your goat’s cheese salad at a picnic or giving the glad-eye to a waiter as you nibble on some feta, let your cheesy imaginations run riot. As usual, starters and snacks, salads and sweets, puddings and pies and any other sort of dish is eligible.
Oh – and a bonus prize to anyone who can convince me of the merits of feta with watermelon as I Just Don’t Get It.
Want to take part in July’s Cheese, Please! Recipe Blog Challenge? Check out the full rules here.
Write a recipe post using cheese in a summery recipe and post it on your blog.

Lovely, feel free to link up. We’ve had vegan cheeses on here before, very intriguing. Lucky dad 🙂
Oh now you have set me a challenge – feta and watermelon – yum yum!!!
Perhaps I should try it again as everyone seems to love it…I just found it a bit odd when I tasted it!
I think it probably depends on how juicy and sweet your watermelon is. The sweeter the better!
*digs out recipe books and a cocktail umbrella* summery cheese you say?
I’ll hold you to that cocktail umbrella…your post won’t get through unless it’s in the photos at a jaunty angle 😉
I’m with you this time, I don’t get feta and watermelon either!
Not just me then! I tried it in a café last year and just didn’t like it as a combination…but then it was all over the internet so I thought I was missing something! Perhaps I should try it again…
Ah no…seriously….feta and watermenlon…that’s just wrong..Otherwise -great blog!
Haha, thanks, I’m glad I’m not alone!
